Yes. DASSM certification is a prerequisite for DAC and DAVSC certification.

If you have credential holders for both certifications, you need to renew the higher certification which is DASSM certification. 

You need to earn 7 PDUs in a year to maintain the certification. You need to pay a nominal amount plus the 7 PDUs to PMI to maintain the certification.

Although both these certifications are designed for Organizational Agility, there are some obvious differences. One most important thing is that SAFe is a framework and DA is a toolkit and leverages some great things from SAFe and provides the guidance accordingly. 

Both are offered by PMI. 

Both these certifications, i.e., PMI-ACP and DASSM are offered by PMI. 

DASSM is the latest offering by PMI. PMI is focusing on Disciplined Agile certifications and as per the market trend, it is gaining momentum.

PMI-ACP is more knowledge-oriented and talks about Agile in general and the different agile practices. It familiarizes you with the space. Disciplined Agile is also knowledge-intensive (much more than PMI-ACP) and has an application view, where you as a Scrum Master or Team Lead apply the concepts in the real world. 

The Master Level Certification involves 2 certifications:

1. Disciplined Agile Coach – It will be launched on Sept 2022
2. Disciplined Agile Value Stream Consultant – It will be launched on Sept 2022

When you have finished your exam and your results are shown, it is important that you must click the END EXAM button located at the bottom left of the page to close out the exam. 

If END EXAM is not executed and you receive PASS, your designation will NOT appear on your PMI profile dashboard until it has been done. 

If END EXAM is not executed and you receive FAIL, this will cause a delay in being eligible for a retake. 

PMI allows only 1 free attempt for the DASM or DASSM exam. In the case of the Retake exam, you may purchase a retake exam, for a maximum of 2 additional times, through your myPMI dashboard within your 30-day exam eligibility period. 

Each retake is $150. Upon payment, you can access the link to retake the exam either through your myPMI dashboard or use the Schedule Your Exam link in the automated email from Pearson VUE. If your dashboard does not refresh to show Schedule Exam or Start Exam within 30 minutes of payment, contact PMI for assistance. 

Your Certification will appear on your PMI dashboard the following day after 6:00 am EST. 

PMI is working on the error message and it has been notified to PMI already. If you receive an error message after submitting your exam, please ignore it. 

There is sometimes an issue when ending the exam, that causes this screen to appear. Please note that your exam has been submitted to Pearson VUE without error. 

There is no need to schedule your exam in advance for a DA Certification exam. When you are ready to take the exam, click the Schedule your Exam link in the automated email. 

Remember to take the exam within 24 hours

Moreover, if you do not see the link in your inbox, try looking in your spam/junk folder.

Please note that once an exam has been scheduled or started, the exam link is removed from the PMI dashboard. 

You will need to use the “Schedule your Exam link” in the automated email. 

The exam duration for both these certifications is 90 Minutes. There is a Tutorial which is optional and is for 30 Minutes

The DASSM exam is administered through Pearson VUE. The exam is an online, non-proctored test including 50 multiple-choice questions. The total exam appointment is 120 minutes—30 minutes for the introduction, tutorial, and survey and up to 90 minutes for completing the exam.

In the upcoming months, the Disciplined Agile training workshops and exams will be translated into Simplified Chinese, Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, and Japanese.

Yes, the DASM or DASSM certification is applicable for 1 year. After that you have to renew it with certain PDUs. To renew the certification, you must earn 7 PDUs in agile topics and pay the $50 renewal fee every year.

PMI does not publish the passing score for any of their certifications.

The DASM and DASSM exams are administered through Pearson VUE. Each and every examination is an online, non-proctored test including 50 multiple-choice questions. Candidates have 90 minutes to finish the exam.

The examination fee for 1 exam attempt is included in the cost of the training workshop. Students have 60 days to take the exam online after completing the training. The Certification will be given after you pass the exam.

Below are the steps students must take to access the DASM or DASSM exam following a training workshop:

• After the training workshop, participants will receive an email with instructions to access the exam
• You have to Log in to PMI and access the link to the exam from the my PMI dashboard. You must have a PMI ID with a valid mailing address and valid phone number. If these fields are not completed, you will not be eligible to take the exam.
• It is a non-proctored exam administered through Pearson VUE. It can be taken any time of the day or night, whenever you feel you are ready.
• You have 60 days from when you initially received the exam link to take the exam.
• You may retake it 2 more times within that 30-day period if you do not pass the first attempt.  If you would like to take the exam again, email your request to DACertifications@pmi.org with the subject “Retake DA Scrum Master Exam” or “Retake DA Senior Scrum Master Exam” and include your name and PMI ID number. A new exam access link will be emailed to you and you may take the exam online at your earliest convenience
• In case you do not receive an exam link within five business days of the training, please notify DACertifications@pmi.org.

After the DASM or DASSM training workshop is complete, the instructor must email a roster of the attendees to DACertifications@pmi.org. An exam access link will be automatically generated and emailed directly to each participating student. Notifications cannot be generated to anyone but the student. Depending on when the roster is received, it can take up to a few business days following the training for the student to receive the exam link.

The exam is administered online through Pearson VUE. The student will need to log in to PMI and access the link to the exam from the myPMI dashboard. The student must have a PMI ID with a valid mailing address and valid phone number. This is required information for any candidate to test through Pearson VUE. If the address and phone number is not completed, the student will not be able to take the exam.

It is a non-proctored exam so the student may take it at any time of day (or night) when they are ready. They will have 30 days from the time they receive the exam link to take the exam, and they may retake it two more times within that 30-day period if they do not pass the first attempt. In the future, there will be an exam retake fee ($150), but for now, there is a limited time special offer to retake the exam for no additional cost.

If a student does not receive an exam link within five business days of the instructor sending the roster, please notify DACertifications@pmi.org.

You get 2 more retakes to take the exam within your stipulated time of 60 days. Each retake costs USD 150.

Upon completing the DASSM training, you have to complete the application process for PMI (they will take 5 days to review) you'll be provided with instructions for registering and taking the exam. A separate email comes from PMI to your id, which Prothoughts will be coordinating. This is covered extensively in our material. It is an online closed book multi-choice exam. 50 questions to be attempted in 90 min.

You need to score 70% (i.e., 35 marks) out of 50 marks

The exam tests your application, analysis and understanding of the DASSM syllabus. 

The exam questions are multiple choice questions. Almost 40 odd questions will have 4 answer choices and you need to select 1 right answer. The rest 10 odd questions may have 6-7 answer choices and you may have to select 2-3 answer choices. The questions will state how many choices to select. 

The duration of the exam is for 90 minutes, without any break. And the number of questions are 50.

As explained in the previous question, there is no eligibility for DASSM exam. We recommend that you take Prothoughts Knowledge Check to assess where you stand.

There is no pre-requisite for the DASSM workshop.

However, we highly recommend to have the DASM course, whether you are experienced in Agile or not.

This Knowledge Check identify areas where they may require additional study. Further, it will recommend resources and future course of action to attempt the DASSM exam.

The Knowledge check helps in the following aspects:

The DASSM does not have a training pre-requisite to take the workshop.
Students may have the 2 years required agile experience, which means the DASM class would be a too easy for them, but they may not have been introduced to Disciplined Agile (DA).  This Knowledge Check helps them identify areas where extra learning/time may be needed
It helps them know what sections in the book to study prior to the exam

DASSM stands for Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master and it is one level higher up than DASM (Disciplined Agile Scrum Master). DASM talks about the foundations of Scrum, Lean and Disciplined Agile.

DASSM talks about taking this to the next level and implementing it not only for your teams but evangelizing for other teams, by networking with upper levels of management and other functional heads in the organization.
