How Much Does a PgMP Certification Cost?

The cost of obtaining a Program Management Professional (PgMP) Certification Online or for a Classroom can vary depending on several factors, including whether or not you are a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), and the cost of study materials and exam preparation courses.

As of 2023, the current PMI membership fee is $129 per year for individuals. If you are a PMI member, the cost to apply for the PgMP certification exam is $800 USD. If you are not a PMI member, the cost to apply for the PgMP certification exam is $1,000 USD.

In addition to the exam fee, you may also need to consider the cost of study materials and exam preparation courses. These can range in cost depending on the provider and the type of material and can include books, online courses, in-person classes, and practice exams.

How Much Time Should You Allocate to the PgMP Application Process?

PgMP Application is entirely different from PMP or some other PMI certifications. Other than program illustration, you need to address the 5 experience-based questions. How is the PgMP Exam Structured?

The exam is computer-based and administered at Pearson VUE testing centers. Candidates have four hours to complete the exam, and there is no scheduled break during the exam.

How Long Does it Take to Prepare for the PgMP Exam?

Everything relies on how long you can commit consistently. On the off chance that you can devote 1-2 hours of valuable time, you can hope to be prepared in 2-3 months. Going past 4 months can be overkill. Insights for Writing your Experience Summary

• Your answers should be clear and on point and the use of proper English is mandatory.
• Try using a notepad or word application to type out your answers and then put them into your summary into your application.
• Make sure you respond your all elements of the option. For example, if the Experience Summary Option asks you to state how you identified and evaluated risks, make sure you give proper examples of how you identified and evaluated the risks.
• Answers with responses to all the elements of the option are likely to be 200 – 350 words.
• While putting work experience on the application, kindly put in your program background information, which will be reviewed by the panel reviewers. Do not repeat the program description again and again in your answers.
• Kindly respond in the first person. PMI is interested in examples of your personal and individual contributions to the program. 
• Correct way: I developed (or led the development of) the program governance model by…
• Incorrect way: The program team/We developed the program governance model by…
• Re-read your responses before submitting them to ensure that they are correct and complete.

Can I Retake the PgMP Exam?

Yes, you can retake the PgMP exam if you are not successful on your first attempt. However, there are certain restrictions and requirements that you should be aware of.

If you do not pass the exam on your first attempt, you must wait at least one calendar month before you can take the exam again. You may take the exam up to three times within a year from the date of your application approval.

If you do not pass the exam after three attempts, you must wait one year from the date of your last exam attempt before you can apply to take the exam again. In addition, you will be required to provide evidence of additional education and/or professional development activities related to program management.

Each time you take the exam, you will need to pay the exam fee. The current exam fee for PMI members is $800 USD, while the fee for non-members is $1,000 USD.

It is important to note that while retaking the exam is an option, it is also important to use the experience to identify areas where you need to improve your knowledge and skills. Consider taking additional study courses, participating in study groups, and using practice exams to help you prepare for the exam.
