Before applying for the PgMP certification, you need to meet PMI’s experience requirements. Your eligibility depends on your educational background and project and program management experience.
With a secondary diploma, associate degree, or equivalent:
- Secondary diploma, associate degree, or global equivalent
- 48 months / 4 years of project management experience or PMP
- 84 months / 7 years of program management experienc
With a four-year degree or equivalent:
- Bachelor's degree or higher, or global equivalent
- 48 months / 4 years of project management experience or PMP
- 48 months / 4 years of program management experience
With a GAC-accredited degree:
- Bachelor's or postgraduate degree from a GAC-accredited program
- 36 months / 3 years of project management experience or PMP
- 36 months / 3 years of program management experience
If you already hold PMP:
- PMI can accept PMP in place of the project management experience requirement
- You still need to meet the applicable program management experience requirement
Important: Meeting the eligibility requirements is only part of the PgMP application process. PMI may audit applications, and candidates must also complete PMI's program management experience assessment before scheduling the examination.
