What is Disciplined Agile?
Disciplined agile can be defined as a process decision toolkit that aids in the optimization of processes based on the specific needs of each project. It is a people-first agile framework that combines various disciplined agile delivery methodologies such as XP, Scrum, Kanban, and others.
Disciplined Agile helps individuals, teams, and organisations optimise their processes. Disciplined Agile’s History (DA):
DA’s software development division (Disciplined Agile). Disciplined Agile was officially introduced in 2012 with the publication of the book Disciplined Agile Delivery.
Disciplined Agile 2.0, a Disciplined Agile framework, was created in 2015. Disciplined DevOps was added as a second layer, and Disciplined Agile IT (DAIT) was added as a third layer.
Disciplined Agile 3.0 was released in 2017 with the addition of a fourth layer called Disciplined Agile Enterprise (DAE). Disciplined Agile 4.0, also known as the Disciplined Agile Toolkit, was released in 2018. It provided the full range of processes required for business agility.
The Project Management Institute purchased Disciplined Agile in 2019. (PMI). Today, Disciplined Agile is the world’s second most popular Agile framework, trailing only the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
